Why is Enova Power renovating its Victoria Street office?

Enova Power Corp. is renovating its Victoria Street building to replace its 41-year-old heating and cooling (HVAC)system, which has has outlived its useful life of 25 years and must be replaced.

Replacing the system requires significant work to remove the walls and ceilings in the main office, displacing employees while the work is underway.

Enova is taking advantage of this time to make some upgrades to the office to improve the layout and customer accessibility, including the creation of a one-storey, street-level customer service area.

This work includes:

  • Removing two parking spaces, an accessibility ramp, a small entrance foyer, and a staircase to create a street-level customer service area.
  • Upgrading seating and service counters, private consultation areas, enhanced lighting and acoustics, and the integration of modern digital tools to support seamless transactions.
  • Upgrading service counters for accessibility and customer comfort.
  • General building upgrades and cosmetic updates.

The work is expected to take 12 months to complete.

The cost of the HVAC replacement and creation of the new customer entrance is $11 million.

The bill impact for the average residential customer is approximately $0.30.

What are the benefits of the renovation?

  • Easier access to in-person customer care.
  • Improved accessibility.
  • 17% reduction in electricity use.
  • 100% reduction in natural gas consumption.
  • Close to 77% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
