Enova Power Corp. donates more than 10,000 meals to The Food Bank of Waterloo Region

WATERLOO REGION, ON (Dec. 19, 2022) – Enova Power Corp. (Enova) and its customers are brightening the holiday season for local families with a donation of more than 10,000 meals to The Food Bank of Waterloo Region (The Food Bank).

Through an eBilling campaign that ran from mid-October to late November, Enova donated six meals on behalf of each customer that registered for eBilling. The utility then extended the campaign and doubled its donations to 12 meals per customer during the Week of Giving.

“Thank you to our customers who made the switch to eBilling and helped provide much-needed support for families across Waterloo Region,” said Enova co-CEO Jerry Van Ooteghem. “As the holidays approach and the cost of living continues to rise across Waterloo Region, The Food Bank is more important than ever. We are proud to support such an important resource in our community.”

The Food Bank is a leader of the Community Food Assistance Network, a system of 120+ community programs and agency partners that provide food and support to people in need. One in 14 households across Waterloo Region use an emergency food program. In 2022, more than five million pounds of food were acquired by The Food Bank and distributed to the Network.

“I would like to thank the whole team at Enova Power for their generous donation,” said Kim Wilhelm, CEO of The Food Bank. “The need for food in Waterloo Region has never been greater and this donation will go a long way in supporting the most vulnerable in our community this holiday season.”

Enova, which was formed through the successful merger of Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro and Waterloo North Hydro, has a long history of supporting The Food Bank and other community organizations through eBilling campaigns and employee donations.

“As a committed community partner, Enova is pleased to continue The Food Bank eBilling campaign,” said Enova co-CEO Rene Gatien. “Over the past five years we have proudly donated more than 30,000 meals to families across the region and we look forward to continuing this support of The Food Bank.”
