Why is Enova trimming trees?

Tree trimming is essential to ensuring a safe, reliable supply of electricity. Trees provide many benefits to our community, but tree limbs and branches near power lines can be dangerous. When tree limbs hit or fall on power lines, they may become energized, posing a risk to the safety of anyone nearby. They can also cause damage to power lines, causing unplanned power outages.

We trim trees throughout our service territory on a regular schedule. Please refer to Ontario Regulation 22/04 and the Electricity Act, 1988, for details about Enova’s regulated responsibility for maintaining tree branches and vegetation around power lines.
