Frequently asked questions for customers

You can download your Green Button data here. You will need your account number and your meter number to access the information.

Green Button data is downloaded using Download My Data in an industry-standard XML data format that is designed to be read and analyzed by computer applications, not humans. By using Connect My Data, you can share your data with a third-party company you authorize or upload it to an app to help you make sense of the information.

The Green Button initiative is still fairly new so there aren’t a large number of vendors available who can read and interpret the files. However, you might be able to find an app through the App Store or Google Play.

When you authorize a third-party vendor to access your data, you select the type of data you want to share with them and for which account (if you have multiple accounts). You can select your Energy Usage Data, Billing Data and/or Account Information to be shared. Enova will share the type of data you have selected and authorized for that account.

Energy Usage Data includes:

  • Historical usages up to a maximum of 2 years and/or ongoing meter readings of your meters
  • hourly interval data
  • Net metering data

Utility Bill Data includes:

  • Billing periods
  • Energy charges and adjustments

Account Information includes:

  • Customer Name

Yes, you can stop sharing your data with a third-party vendor at any time. To do so, simply go to the Data Shares tab within the Green Button portal, select the vendor you would like to stop sharing your data with, and click Revoke.

Enova has been certified by the Green Button Alliance. This is the industry standard to ensure compliance with data sharing and security standards.

Third-party vendors must also be certified by the Green Button Alliance to by authorized as a registered vendor.

Before you authorize a third-party vendor, carefully read the terms and conditions on their website so that you understand how they will use, share or retain your data.

Green Button Download My Data (DMD) allows you to select and download your electricity use data in an XML format. This is the same format that is used across all Green Button participants.

Green Button Connect My Data (CMD) is the industry standard for securely authorizing and sharing your electricity use data with registered third-party vendors who can view and analyze the data to provide insights into managing and conserving your electricity.

  • provide you with information on your energy usage
  • give you advice on how you can use less energy to help lower your bills, such as customized energy efficiency retrofit options or switching electricity price plans to get long-lasting savings.
