Enova crews have headed to central Ontario after a devastating ice storm hit the area on March 29 and 30, encasing trees and powerlines in thick layers of ice and knocking out power to hundreds of thousands of customers across the province. Utilities in the affected areas have been working around the clock to get power restored, but the scope of the damage, from blocked and icy roads to downed trees and branches, have hampered efforts.
For decades, Ontario’s electric utilities have come together in times of crisis to back each other up. This past weekend, Enova crews answered calls for help from InnPower and Lakeland Power and headed out to add their skills and equipment to the restoration effort.
On Sunday, March 30 a team of Enova powerline technicians and utility arborists headed up to support InnPower as they work to restore power in the Innisfil/South Barrie area. On Monday, March 31 an additional team of powerline technicians headed out to help Lakeland Power restore power in the Gravenhurst area.
We’re incredibly proud of our team as they take time away from their families to support our neighbours in need. The damage is extensive and the work is dangerous. Thank you, team, for your efforts to get power restored to thousands of residents and businesses in Ontario. Stay safe!
