Enova Power Corp. donates 10,500 meals to The Food Bank of Waterloo Region

The holiday season just got a little easier for local residents in need after Enova Power Corp. (Enova) donated 10,500 meals to The Food Bank of Waterloo Region (The Food Bank) on behalf of its customers through its fall eBilling campaign.

Enova donated six healthy meals on behalf of each customer who switched to eBilling during its campaign from mid-October until Dec. 1.  During the final week of the campaign, Enova doubled its donation to 12 meals, for a total of 10,500 meals throughout the campaign.

“We are so grateful to Enova Power Corp for their ongoing generosity, and we appreciate Enova customers who recently made the switch to eBilling, supporting hungry neighbours in Waterloo Region,” said Kim Wilhelm, interim CEO at The Food Bank of Waterloo Region. “Enova’s donation not only furthers our mission to address food insecurity in our community but also stands as a testament to their compassion and corporate responsibility. With their support, we can ensure that individuals and families in need will have nourishing meals on their tables during this holiday season.”

There is a rising need for food bank support across Waterloo Region. More than 58,000 families accessed food support in 2022, and food bank use is at an all-time high. Last year, The Food Bank distributed more than 7.2 million pounds of fresh, frozen, and non-perishable food.

“The Food Bank is more important than ever for families across Waterloo Region,” said Greig Cameron, Enova’s President and CEO. “We’re proud to continue our support, and we thank our customers for switching to eBilling this fall and helping to provide meals to those in need in our community.”

This is the second year Enova and its customers supported The Food Bank through the fall eBilling campaign, resulting in more than 20,000 total donations. Enova also donated $5,000 to each of the Grand River Hospital Foundation and St. Mary’s General Hospital Foundation through this summer’s eBilling campaign.
