The wild weather ride isn’t over yet. Our hard-working crews have been working tirelessly through the night to restore power across our service territory, but several outages remain. The main culprits are ice-covered trees and heavy limbs falling onto power lines, causing significant equipment damage.
What’s ahead:
Snow squalls and strong winds are in the forecast for today. With ice-coated trees and power lines, additional outages are likely. Road conditions remain icy and snowy, making travel slow and challenging for our crews. High winds also create hazardous working conditions—especially for those operating 50 to 90 feet in the air in bucket trucks. Please know that every effort is being made to restore power as safely and quickly as possible.
Important safety reminder:
If you see a downed power line, keep people and pets at least 10 metres away—about the length of a full-sized school bus—and call 9-1-1 immediately.
Outage updates:
Our outage map is now working properly but in cases where crews are still working to identify the cause of outages, estimated restoration times may not be available. Please assume it could take several hours to restore power, depending on how widespread the damage is.
How You Can Prepare
- Charge your mobile devices to stay connected.
- Stay warm safely: Keep extra clothing and blankets nearby. Never use barbeques, propane heaters, or generators indoors—they produce deadly carbon monoxide.
- Check your emergency kit: Ensure you have medication, water, and shelf-stable food for at least 72 hours. Here’s a full checklist.
- Light your home safely: Use flashlights or LED candles. If you must use flame candles, never leave them unattended—they’re a fire risk.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. We deeply appreciate the dedication of our crews working in tough conditions to restore power for everyone.
