Summer is still in full swing, but September and the start of another school year are just around the corner. Enova Power Corp. (Enova) wants to ensure the school year starts out on the right foot for students facing food insecurity by helping its customers support Nutrition for Learning.
Through Enova’s annual summer eBilling campaign, which runs until September 19, Enova will donate $3 to Nutrition for Learning on behalf of every customer who switches to eBilling. Nutrition for Learning provides nutritious food and food education for students facing food insecurity across Waterloo Region.
“There’s no reason for a single child to be hungry in Waterloo Region. This is why we’re so grateful to Enova for choosing to support us during the back-to-school season,” said Erin Moraghan, Nutrition for Learning’s CEO. “Many people don’t realize that last school year, educators reported that as many as 50% of their students were dependent on our food programs to get through the school day. Waterloo Region is breaking youth hunger records, but with your support, we keep striving for a future where nourishment is available for all students, making life a little easier for parents and caregivers.”
Nutrition for Learning plays an increasingly important role in the daily lives of students across Waterloo Region. The organization ensures students have the nutrition they need to reach their goals throughout the day and helps to destigmatize students seeking food assistance at school.
Nutrition for Learning supports school-age children in many ways, including:
- Providing more than 2 million meals annually to students from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
- Ensuring over 100,000 students have access to food programs at 180 schools across Waterloo Region.
