Food insecurity across Waterloo Region is at an all-time high. In August, nearly 700 households accessed food assistance for the first time, a 67 per cent increase over 2022. There has been a 35 per cent increase year-over-year in food hamper program visits.
Many factors can lead to food insecurity – including job loss, income loss, rising food costs and the lack of affordable housing. Whatever the reason, The Food Bank is here to help those in need across the communities we serve:
